Pomona College Orchestra plays Brahms and Stravins

Bridges Hall of Music
150 E. Fourth St
Claremont, CA

Eric Lindholm, conductor, leads the orchestra in Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 in D Minor with acclaimed pianist Genevieve Feiwen Lee, and Stravinsky’s Suite from “The Firebird” (1919).

Hailed for her “melting lyricism” and “singing melodies” (New Classic LA), Genevieve Feiwen Lee is a versatile, Grammy-nominated pianist who has trilled audiences from New York to Amsterdam, and China to Brazil. A member of the Pomona College music faculty, she is also a founding member of the Mojave Trio, and was a member of the Garth Newel Piano Quartet (VA), with whom she recently performed with in Carnegie Hall.

The Pomona College Orchestra has a long tradition as an important creative and cultural outlet for the students, faculty, and staff of the Claremont Colleges. Its roster typically includes representatives from the five undergraduate colleges and the greater community. Recent years have seen the orchestra perform such major works as Strauss’ Don Juan, Christopher Rouse’s Flute Concerto (with soloist Rachel Rudich), Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with internationally acclaimed pianist Boris Berman, and more.

Eric Lindholm has been the conductor of the Orchestra since Fall 1995. As a conductor of professional orchestras, he has performed across the US, as well as in Germany, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, Brazil, and led programs with the Festival Strings Lucerne. He has won prizes at major international competitions for both conducting (Besançon 1993) and composition (Mitropoulos 2007), and his music has been performed in the US and Greece.
